So after a couple of weeks break after Docklow I was ready for match 10 against Dad.
Id been really ill all week so wasn't my normal self and not 100% looking forward to it.
The weather however was forcast for red hot conditions so sitting in the sun fishing would beat sat on sofa all day
Today's match was to be at Risby Park Fisheries a place I hadn't fished before. Id read good and bad about the place on line. Big fish were constantly caught however lots of younger anglers went without proper tackle etc so i wasnt sure what to expect.
Once again we went wrong on route though but after 20 minutes driving on a tractor track to only find a padlocked gate and having to do a 75 point turn just to get facing the right direction we eventually made it.
The venue was much more impressive than I imagined. A fantastic lakeside cafe and 4 lakes with good parking were present.
We chose to fish The Gorse Lake. This lake is known as "Tench Lake" by many. The lake looks like a river cut off. Quite long shaped, wide at one end.
The weather was extremely warm and sunny and as a result the fish were not feeding.
First hour passed and Dad on the pole had caught a few tiddlers. I hadn't caught anything until the rod wrapped around and a nice 7 lb 8 oz was bagged. In these conditions this one fish could well win me this match.
Over the next 6 hours I only caught 4 more small fish. A roach and 3 bream. Dad still on the pole had caught quite a few tiny fish and I mean tiny.
As the hooter went I ended up with 5 fish for a total of 10 lb 8 oz. Dad caught 10 fish for 2 lb 10 oz.
4-1 win for me today which increases my lead to 20 points for the season
I will definately be going back here and hopefully catch some of the big fish that come out very often.
