Well here it was, the final match of the week. Dad needed a single point to win the Trophy, I needed an unrealistic 5-0 win. We wanted to fish the match lake but due to a match we opted to fish Mickey Mouse again. We were going home today so it was to be a short match, an early morning match. We got to the lake at 5.30am and selected the so called best two pegs on the lake. I was on peg 8, Dad on 6. With Dad only needing a point he set the pole up and left the rod packed away. Could this be a mistake? He was confident of pulling in a lot of silvers to get the 1 point, even if it meant him losing the match 4-1.
The match could not have gone any better for me. Id saved my best performance for the very last day. I caught a huge Barbel of 5lb 5oz, a big Chub of 3lb 7oz and a decent carp of over 5lb. It was a great day for me, Every cast I was catching and some good fish too...
Meanwhile Dad was struggling on the pole, only catching a few and losing two under the Lilly pads.
As the final hooter blew Id caught 20 fish compared to Dads 11. Total weight of 34lb 8oz compared to Dads 13lb 3oz and my Barbel was the biggest fish of the match so against all the odds I won the match by the margin I required 5-0.
The Docklow Trophy was mine. The tightest of scoreline 13-12
What a fantastic week of matches at an incredible venue. A place I will definately be going back to.
The whole site was fantastic. A tackle shop, pub, restaurant all on site. The customer service from everyone was second to none and the week was made better by some Father/Son banter. A brilliant week overall. There are also lakes on site we didn't get chance to even fish.
Match results were:
MATCH LAKE - David 4-1 Dad
MICKEY MOUSE LAKE - Dad 3-2 David
FARMER JACK LAKE - Dad 4-1 David
MOBY DICK LAKE - Dad 4-1 David
MICKEY MOUSE LAKE - David 5-0 Dad
Overall -
David 13-12 Dad
DOCKLOW POOLS WINNER 2016
