Well today was match 11 of the season between myself and Dad. I went in to the day with a 20 point lead so was under no pressure. We chose to fish Rising Sun Fisheries in Aldwark.
After walking round the 3 lakes on the complex we decided to fish Lake 2.
Lakes 2 and 3 were almost identical. Rectangular in shape and home to about 14/16 pegs. The pegs were flat banked and spacious and the lake was tree lined. There used to be a central island running the length of the lake a few years ago but has now almost completely sunk. There is one part still visible and the pegs facing that were the ones we chose. Me on peg 4, Dad on peg 5. The place was very green and had a relaxing atmosphere.
The time was 6.45am and we started to set up. Suddenly I heard "David, David come and help me".
As I approached his peg he wasnt sat on his box, I though eh? where is he? Then i looked into the water and there he was.... Dad had actually fallen in the lake up to his waist and couldnt get out
HAHAHAHAHAHA obviously I had to get my phone out and take a photo to put on Facebook before I pulled him out...
At 7.15am we started the match. It was to be a 6 hour match today and I wanted to try about 40 baits...
The match was a story of two types of fishing. I as per usual fished the method feeder. I caught Golden Orfe, Crucian, Mirror, Common Carp, Ide and Tench although most only small. I ended up with 18lb (11 fish)
Dad though on the pole was hitting perch after perch, all tiny tiddlers about 4oz but he was catching every few minutes. He also had a few Ide too
In the end Dads constant catching of Tiddlers proved to be decisive as he finished with just over 20 lb to snatch the 3 points. My Common carp of just under 6 lb got me the point for the biggest fish and the point for most fish went to Dad for his 8.4 million Perch ;-) Well 47 fish he ended up with...
4-1 win to Dad and my lead cut to 17 points...
Gutted to lose but the sight of him stuck in the lake eased the pain hahah
Roll on next week. Possibly back to Rising Sun to fish Lake 1
