Match 2 of the week was to be held on the delightfuly named Mickey Mouse Lake.
This lake was the oldest on the complex and without doubt the most picturesque. Lilly Pads were reachable from probably all the 40 or so pegs on the lakes and Willow Trees surrounded the water. Other large trees protected the water from any wind but on this day the weather was fantastic, Sunny and warm.
With a 4-1 lead from the previous day I was fairly confident going into the match and with the pegs on the lake being doubles we were sat virtually together.
This lake is known for being full of allsorts of species and a common phrase people use about the lake is "You never know what you will catch"
This was certainly true...
Dad caught steadily all day mainly on the method feeder fishing under Lilly pads. I found it hard going at first but as the afternoon drew on I started to catch more and more. All were small fish but the numbers were increasing. It was apparent I wasnt going to match Dads total weight but I had caught a fairly decent carp so with an hour to go I was on course to lose the match 4-1.
As the minutes ticked by I got closer to Dads total number of fish mark. With literally 89 seconds to go I snared a little Chub to win a point. Could that point prove to be a big point at the end of the week?
I was disappointed to lose but a 3-2 scoreline could have been worse.
It was a fantastic match, I really enjoyed fishing the lake and my 19 fish included Chub, Bream, Barbel, Common Carp, Roach, Tench and Crucian Carp.
So my lead for the week now stood at 6-4 after 2 matches
