15th July 2017 - Gilmoors - (Bottom Lake)

Well, this was the first match since I lost my Docklow trophy and I was eager to get the win. We were fishing Gilmoors today in Harrogate but on the bottom lake, a lake we hadn't fished before.

Desperate for the win (even though I held a 16pt lead) I set up my trusty feeder set up but also the Pole. Id only ever fished the Pole once before and not really enjoyed it but needs must.

I started on the pole and within 10 minutes id been snapped by a carp. I spent the day alternating between pole and rod and caught 8 fish during the day including a nice carp of over 4 lb on the pole and two mirror carp of over 6 lb each on the rod. 

Dad on the next page had a total nightmare. He caught two tiddlers and weighed in less than a 1 lb. A really good day for me on a lake and venue i really like. You never know what you are going to catch at Gilmoor highlighted by the lovely golden tench I netted.

So a 5-0 win for me and my lead stretches to 21 points with only 5 matches of the season to go.

Next week its a pleasure session somewhere on my own and I havent ruled out a trip back to Gilmoors.
