So today was a trip back to Raker to fish the very small but very fishy water "Heron Lake". The lake only has 11 pegs but is littered with vegetation and fishable features. The match was to be a short 5 hour match as I had a stag doo to attend so could only fish 8am til 1pm. We set up and with the sun kindly shining down on my peg, I whispered to the fishing Gods to get me another win ;-).
With my very first cast I banked a Common Carp just over 5 lb in weight. 20 minutes later a Mirror Carp of 4 lb 8 oz was in my net. With Dad struggling to get off the mark I thought this could be game over all ready and it basically was. The remaining hours saw me bank 4 Bream and a couple of small-ish Carp whilst Dad on a peg blocked from the sun saw him struggle with tiny fish for a total of just over 3 lb. Even worse news for Dad was that he snapped a section of his pole so a costly day all round for the lad. A 4.5 v 0.5 win for me means my lead for the season is now 20 points after only 9 matches. :-)
