Going into today's match with a 15-5 lead so early in the season, I didn't feel any pressure.
The alarm went off and I packed the car before heading over to meet Dad at his. We then made the short-ish journey over to Sykehouse to fish the Stock Pond there. This was a venue we hadn't been to before but having read a lot of reviews of the place and seen the huge weights coming out we were both confident of a good day....
The venue consisted of the lake we were fishing but also two others and a cafe too.
We paid at the cabin and were told we had to use the fisheries own landing nets.
I was to fish peg 1, Dad peg 2.
I set up on my usual Method feeder way of fishing but using an in-line method adhering to the rules of the fishery. Dad was going to fish feeder and Pole so set up both.
The day was nothing short of abysmal. Dad caught steadily in the rain catching 17 fish in total but all were very small. His combined weight was less than 6 lb. I was even worse. I scraped 6 fish for 3 lb 8 oz and all this from under the brolly as the rain was constant all day. Not one carp was caught between us and looking around the lake it was a similar story for everyone with anglers only staying a few hours before packing up and heading home.
Dad won 5-0 today to peg my lead back to 15-10 and all to play for.
I could do with a win next week!!!!
