Well, today was the penultimate fishing trip of this season before the gear is washed and put away until March.
I decided on a trip back to Oakmere to try the Course lake for the first time.
I knew it was a tough lake to crack and that the carp didn't come out that often but that only made me want to try it even more so today was the day
I arrived on site at 7.30am and picked my peg.
Most of the pegs have large patches of lilly pads and over hanging trees and reeds so all pegs had plenty of features to fish to
I had decided to fish 8am until 1pm and with the weather overcast but quite mild conditions were perfect.
The first three hours were fantastic. Four Carp (Three of which were over 4 lb) were landed and 2 skimmers
There were six of us on this lake and I was the only one catching
The final two hours didn't see any more Carp on the bank but I did land another five Skimmers
So all in all a good day. 23 lb in five hours in Mid October is quite impressive and sets me up perfectly for tomorrows season finale back on the Gold Fish Lake against Dad.
