12th September 2020 - Willows Fishery

So, after 5 wins on the trot I had increased my season lead to 24 points. Could I extend it again today?

We decided to fish Willows Fishery in Hessay, York. It was to be our first visit to this fishery in five years and the place was always one of our old favourites

Today, it didnt take long to realise it would NOT continue to be one of our favourites...

Something has changed, no big fish could be seen, no one on the lake caught and the lake was full of tiny 1 lb F1 Carp. With F1 of this size they are obviously new and we got the impression that when the fishery went up for sale 5 years ago maybe the original fish were sold and replaced with cheap tiny F1's. We may be wrong but something was definately not how it used to be. It was once a great fishery with lots of different species and of a good stamp too. Now its a tired looking venue, with dangerous access paths and very dangerous collapsing pegs and... very little fish

As far as our match went today, it was abysmal. We both struggled all day

We both landed 11 fish, me for a shocking weight of 11 lb 9 oz, Big T on 12 lb 13 oz

I had the biggest fish of the day with a Common Carp of 3 lb 6 oz but Dad won the match 3.5 pts to 1.5 pts to stop the rot
